5 The proposal pleased the whole company. So they chose Stephen,(A) a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte from Antioch.(B) 6 They had them stand before the apostles, who prayed(C) and laid their hands on(D) them.[a]
7 So the preaching about God flourished, the number of the disciples in Jerusalem multiplied(E) greatly, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.

5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen,(A) a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit;(B) also Philip,(C) Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed(D) and laid their hands on them.(E)
7 So the word of God spread.(F) The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly,(G) and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.
