5 The (E)heavens will praise Your wonders, Lord;
Your faithfulness also (F)in the assembly of the (G)holy ones.
6 For (H)who in the skies is comparable to the Lord?
Who among the [b](I)sons of the mighty is like the Lord,
7 A God (J)greatly feared in the council of the (K)holy ones,
And (L)awesome above all those who are around Him?
8 Lord God of armies, (M)who is like You, mighty [c]Lord?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
9 You rule the surging of the sea;
When its waves rise, You (N)calm them.
10 You Yourself crushed [d](O)Rahab like one who is slain;
You (P)scattered Your enemies with [e]Your mighty arm.
11 The (Q)heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
The (R)world and [f]all it contains, You have established them.

13 You have [g]a strong arm;
Your hand is mighty, Your (W)right hand is exalted.
14 (X)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;

Lord, they walk in the (AA)light of Your face.
16 In (AB)Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
17 For You are the glory of (AC)their strength,
And by Your favor [j]our (AD)horn is exalted.
18 For our (AE)shield belongs to the Lord,
[k]And our king to the (AF)Holy One of Israel.
19 [l]Once You spoke in vision to Your godly [m]ones,
And said, “I have [n]given help to one who is (AG)mighty;
I have exalted one (AH)chosen from the people.
20 I have (AI)found My servant David;
With My holy (AJ)oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom (AK)My hand will be established;
My arm also will (AL)strengthen him.
22 The enemy will not [o]deceive him,
Nor will the [p](AM)son of wickedness afflict him.
23 But I will (AN)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 My (AO)faithfulness and My favor will be with him,
And in My name his (AP)horn will be exalted.
25 I will also place his hand (AQ)on the sea,
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 He will call to Me, ‘You are (AR)my Father,
My God, and the (AS)rock of my salvation.’
27 I will also make him My (AT)firstborn,
The (AU)highest of the kings of the earth.
28 I will maintain My (AV)favor for him forever,
And My (AW)covenant shall be confirmed to him.
29 So I will establish his [q](AX)descendants forever,
And his (AY)throne (AZ)as the days of heaven.
30 “If his sons (BA)abandon My Law
And do not walk in My judgments,
31 If they [r]violate My statutes
And do not keep My commandments,
32 Then I will punish their wrongdoing with the (BB)rod,
And their guilt with [s]afflictions.
33 But I will not [t]withhold (BC)My favor from him,
Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
34 I will not [u]violate My (BD)covenant,
Nor will I (BE)alter [v]the utterance of My lips.
35 [w]Once I have (BF)sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David.
36 His [x](BG)descendants shall endure forever,
And his (BH)throne (BI)as the sun before Me.
37 It shall be established forever (BJ)like the moon,
And a (BK)witness in the sky is faithful.” Selah
38 But You have (BL)rejected and (BM)refused,
You have been full of wrath [y]against Your (BN)anointed.
39 You have [z](BO)repudiated the covenant of Your servant;
You have (BP)profaned (BQ)his crown [aa]in the dust.
40 You have (BR)broken down all his walls;
You have (BS)brought his strongholds to ruin.
41 (BT)All who pass along the way plunder him;
He has become a (BU)disgrace to his neighbors.
42 You have (BV)exalted the right hand of his adversaries;
You have (BW)made all his enemies rejoice.
43 You also turn back the edge of his sword,
And have (BX)not made him stand in battle.
44 You have put an end to his [ab](BY)splendor
And cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have (BZ)shortened the days of his youth;

46 (CB)How long, Lord?
Will You hide Yourself forever?
Will Your (CC)wrath burn like fire?
47 (CD)Remember [ac]what my lifespan is;
For what (CE)futility [ad]You have created all the sons of mankind!
48 What man can live and not (CF)see death?
Can he (CG)save his soul from the [ae]power of [af]Sheol? Selah
49 Where are Your former acts of favor, Lord,
Which You (CH)swore to David in Your faithfulness?
50 Remember, Lord, the (CI)taunt against Your servants;

A truth from which He will not turn back:

On the (J)throne of David and over [b]his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with (K)justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
(L)The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.
God’s Anger with Israel’s Arrogance
8 The Lord sends a [c]message against Jacob,
And it falls on Israel.
9 And all the people know it,
That is, (M)Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria,
Asserting in pride and in (N)arrogance of heart:
10 “The bricks have fallen down,
But we will (O)rebuild with smooth stones;
The sycamores have been cut down,
But we will replace them with cedars.”
11 Therefore the Lord raises superior adversaries against them from (P)Rezin
And provokes their enemies,
12 The Arameans from the east and the (Q)Philistines from the west;
And they (R)devour Israel with [d]gaping jaws.
(S)In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away,
And His hand is still stretched out.
13 Yet the people (T)do not turn back to Him who struck them,
Nor do they (U)seek the Lord of armies.
14 So the Lord cuts off (V)head and tail from Israel,
Both palm branch and bulrush (W)in a single day.
15 The head is (X)the elder and esteemed man,
And the prophet who teaches (Y)falsehood is the tail.
16 (Z)For those who guide this people are leading them astray;
And those who are guided by them are [e]confused.
17 Therefore the Lord does (AA)not rejoice over their young men,
(AB)Nor does He have compassion on their [f]orphans or their widows;
For every one of them is (AC)godless and an (AD)evildoer,
And every (AE)mouth is speaking foolishness.
(AF)In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away,
And His hand is still stretched out.
18 (AG)For wickedness burns like a fire;
It consumes briars and thorns;
It also sets the thickets of the forest aflame
And they roll upward in a column of smoke.
19 By the (AH)wrath of the Lord of armies the (AI)land is burned,
And the (AJ)people are like fuel for the fire;
No (AK)one spares his brother.
20 [g]They devour what is on the right hand but are still (AL)hungry,
And [h]they eat what is on the left hand, but they are not satisfied;
Each of them eats the (AM)flesh of his own arm.
21 Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh,
(AN)And together they are against Judah.
(AO)In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away
And His hand is still stretched out.
