21 All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah. 22 He built Elath and restored it to Judah after the king slept with his fathers.

Azariah, King of Judah(A)

15 In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king. He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jekoliah from Jerusalem. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. But the high places were not removed. The people continued sacrificing and making offerings on the high places.

The Lord afflicted the king, and he was leprous until the day of his death. He lived in a separate house. Jotham the king’s son was in charge of the house, judging the people of the land.

Now the rest of the deeds of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? So Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Jotham his son reigned in his place.
