⁶ If we are afflicted,^(A) it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is experienced in your endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer.^(B)

¹⁷ But even if I am poured out^(A) as a drink offering^(B) on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

²⁴ Now I rejoice in my sufferings^(A) for you, and I am completing in my flesh what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for His body,^(B) that is, the church.

⁸ We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.

¹⁰ This is why I endure^(A) all things for the elect:^(B) so that they also may obtain salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.^(C)
