4 Kwa hiyo tukiwa na huduma hii kwa rehema ya Mungu, hatu kati tamaa. 2 Tumekataa njia za siri na za aibu. Hatutumii njia za udanganyifu, wala hatupotoshi neno la Mungu. Badala yake, tunaeleza neno la kweli wazi wazi na kujitambulisha kuwa wa kweli kwa dhamiri ya kila mtu mbele ya Mungu. 3 Na hata kama Injili yetu imefichika, basi imefichika kwa wale wanaopotea. 4 Kwa upande wao, mungu wa dunia hii ametia giza akili za wasioamini, ili wasione mwanga wa Injili ya utukufu wa Kristo, ambaye ana sura ya Mungu. 5 Kwa maana hatujihubiri sisi wenyewe ila tunamhu biri Yesu Kristo kuwa ni Bwana, na sisi ni watumishi wenu kwa ajili ya Yesu. 6 Kwa kuwa ni Mungu aliyesema, “Nuru iangaze katika giza,” ambaye ameangaza mioyoni mwetu kutupatia nuru ya ufahamu wa utukufu wa Mungu ung’aao katika uso wa Kristo.
7 Hata hivyo tunayo hazina hii katika vyombo vya udongo, ili kuonyesha kwamba uwezo huu wa ajabu unatoka kwa Mungu, na si kutoka kwetu. 8 Tumegandamizwa kila upande, lakini hatujashindwa. Tumetatanishwa lakini hatukati tamaa; 9 tumeteswa lakini hatuku achwa upweke; tumetupwa chini lakini hatujateketezwa. 10 Tuna chukua katika mwili wetu kifo cha Yesu wakati wote ili uhai wa Yesu uweze kudhihirika katika miili yetu. 11 Kwa maana sisi tunaoishi, maisha yetu yako katika hatari ya kifo wakati wote kwa ajili ya Yesu ili uhai wake uweze kuonekana katika miili yetu ya mauti. 12 Kwa hiyo, mauti inatuandama wakati wote, bali uzima unafanya kazi ndani yenu. 13 Maandiko yanasema, “Niliamini, kwa hiyo nimesema.” Sisi pia tunaamini, kwa hiyo tunasema. 14 Kwa maana tunajua ya kuwa aliyemfufua Bwana Yesu atatufufua na sisi pamoja na Yesu na kutufikisha sisi na ninyi mbele zake. 15 Haya yote ni kwa ajili yenu, ili kwa kadiri neema ya Mungu inavyowafi kia watu wengi zaidi, wote watoe shukrani kwa utukufu wa Mungu.
16 Kwa hiyo, hatukati tamaa. Ingawa miili yetu inachakaa, utu wetu wa ndani unafanywa upya kila siku. 17 Maana hii dhiki yetu nyepesi na ya muda mfupi inatutayarisha kwa ajili ya utukufu wa uzima wa milele unaozidi sana matatizo haya. 18 Kwa maana hatuweki mawazo yetu kwenye vitu vinavyoonekana bali kwenye vitu visivyoonekana. Maana vile vinavyoonekana ni vya muda mfupi, lakini vile visivyoonekana vinadumu milele.

Present Weakness and Resurrection Life
4 Therefore, since through God’s mercy(A) we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.(B) 2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways;(C) we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God.(D) On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience(E) in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel(F) is veiled,(G) it is veiled to those who are perishing.(H) 4 The god(I) of this age(J) has blinded(K) the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ,(L) who is the image of God.(M) 5 For what we preach is not ourselves,(N) but Jesus Christ as Lord,(O) and ourselves as your servants(P) for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a](Q) made his light shine in our hearts(R) to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.(S)
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay(T) to show that this all-surpassing power is from God(U) and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side,(V) but not crushed; perplexed,(W) but not in despair; 9 persecuted,(X) but not abandoned;(Y) struck down, but not destroyed.(Z) 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus,(AA) so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.(AB) 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake,(AC) so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.(AD)
13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”[b](AE) Since we have that same spirit of[c] faith,(AF) we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead(AG) will also raise us with Jesus(AH) and present us with you to himself.(AI) 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving(AJ) to overflow to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart.(AK) Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly(AL) we are being renewed(AM) day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.(AN) 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,(AO) since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
