4 David was 30 years old when he began his reign;(A) he reigned 40 years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned 33 years over all Israel and Judah.
6 The king and his men marched to Jerusalem against the Jebusites(B) who inhabited the land. The Jebusites had said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the blind and lame can repel you”; thinking, “David can’t get in here.”

4 David was thirty years old(A) when he became king, and he reigned(B) forty(C) years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months,(D) and in Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.

6 The king and his men marched to Jerusalem(G) to attack the Jebusites,(H) who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, “You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought, “David cannot get in here.”
