(A) David was 30 years old when he became king, and he ruled for 40 years. He lived in Hebron for the first seven and a half years and ruled only Judah. Then he moved to Jerusalem, where he ruled both Israel and Judah for 33 years.

David Conquers Jerusalem(E)(F)

The king and his men marched to Jerusalem(G) to attack the Jebusites,(H) who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, “You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought, “David cannot get in here.”
