^27 (A)When Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled in the direction of Beth-haggan. And Jehu pursued him and said, “Shoot him also.” And they shot him^[a] in the chariot at the ascent of Gur, which is by ^(B)Ibleam. And he fled to ^(C)Megiddo and died there.

^29 (A)In his days ^(B)Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went up to the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates. King Josiah went to meet him, and Pharaoh Neco killed him at ^(C)Megiddo, as soon as he saw him. ^30 (D)And his servants carried him dead in a chariot from ^(E)Megiddo and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. ^(F)And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.

²² Nevertheless, Josiah did not turn away from him, but ^(A)disguised himself in order to fight with him. He did not listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, but came to fight in the plain of ^(B)Megiddo.
