8 We want you to know, brothers and sisters, about the grace of God that was given to the churches^(A) of Macedonia:^{(B) 2} During a severe trial brought about by affliction, their abundant joy and their extreme poverty overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.^(C)

⁹ When I was present with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, since the brothers who came from Macedonia^(A) supplied my needs.^(B) I have kept myself, and will keep myself, from burdening you in any way.
