The construction began in midspring,[a] during the fourth year of Solomon’s reign.

These are the dimensions Solomon used for the foundation of the Temple of God (using the old standard of measurement).[b] It was 90 feet long and 30 feet wide.[c] The entry room at the front of the Temple was 30 feet[d] wide, running across the entire width of the Temple, and 30 feet[e] high. The foundation Solomon laid for building the temple of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide[a](B) (using the cubit of the old standard). The portico at the front of the temple was twenty cubits[b] long across the width of the building and twenty[c] cubits high.

He overlaid the inside with pure gold.
