Against the wall of the [a]temple he built (A)chambers all around, against the walls of the temple, all around the sanctuary (B)and the [b]inner sanctuary. Thus he made side chambers all around it. The lowest chamber was five cubits wide, the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for he made narrow ledges around the outside of the temple, so that the support beams would not be fastened into the walls of the [c]temple. And (C)the temple, when it was being built, was built with stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built. The doorway for the [d]middle story was on the right side of the temple. They went up by stairs to the middle story, and from the middle to the third.

Against the walls of the main hall and inner sanctuary he built a structure around the building, in which there were side rooms.(A) The lowest floor was five cubits[a] wide, the middle floor six cubits[b] and the third floor seven.[c] He made offset ledges around the outside of the temple so that nothing would be inserted into the temple walls.

In building the temple, only blocks dressed(B) at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool(C) was heard at the temple site while it was being built.

The entrance to the lowest[d] floor was on the south side of the temple; a stairway led up to the middle level and from there to the third.
