Ang Obra sang mga Levita

23 Sang tigulang na gid si David, ginhimo niya nga hari sang Israel ang iya anak nga si Solomon. Ginpatipon niya ang tanan nga pangulo sang Israel, pati ang mga pari kag mga Levita. Gin-isip ang mga Levita nga nagaedad 30 paibabaw, kag ang ila kadamuon 38,000. Nagsiling si David, “Ang 24,000 sa ila magadumala sang mga buluhaton sa templo sang Ginoo, ang 6,000 magaalagad bilang mga opisyal kag mga hukom, ang 4,000 magaalagad bilang mga guwardya sang mga puwertahan sang templo, kag ang 4,000 pa gid magadayaw sa Ginoo paagi sa mga instrumento nga ginpahimo ko para sa sini nga buluhaton.” Ginpartida ni David sa tatlo ka grupo ang mga Levita, suno sa mga pamilya sang mga anak ni Levi nga sila ni Gershon, Kohat, kag Merari.

Ang mga Kaliwat ni Gershon

Ang mga anak ni Gershon amo si Ladan[a] kag si Shimei. Si Ladan may tatlo ka anak nga lalaki nga sila ni Jehiel, ang pinakapangulo[b] sang ila pamilya, dayon si Zetam kag si Joel. Amo ini sila ang mga pangulo sang mga pamilya ni Ladan.

Si Shimei may tatlo man ka anak nga lalaki nga sila ni Shelomot, Haziel, kag Haran. 10-11 Sang ulihi may apat pa ka anak nga lalaki si Shimei nga sila ni Jahat, ang pinakapangulo sang ila pamilya, si Zina[c] ang ikaduha, dayon si Jeush kag si Beria. Diutay lang ang mga anak ni Jeush kag Beria, gani gin-isip sila nga isa lang ka pamilya.

Ang mga Kaliwat ni Kohat

12 Si Kohat may apat ka anak nga lalaki nga sila ni Amram, Izhar, Hebron, kag Uziel. 13 Ang mga anak nga lalaki ni Amram amo si Aaron kag si Moises. Ginseparar si Aaron kag ang iya mga kaliwat sa pagdedikar sang labing balaan nga mga butang, sa paghalad sang mga halad sa Ginoo, sa pag-alagad sa iya, kag sa pagbendisyon sa katawhan sa iya ngalan. Amo ini ang ila katungdanan hasta san-o. 14 Ang mga anak nga lalaki ni Moises nga alagad sang Dios nalakip sa mga Levita. 15 Ang iya mga anak nga lalaki amo si Gershom kag si Eliezer. 16 Ang isa sa mga anak nga lalaki ni Gershom amo si Shebuel[d] nga pinakapangulo sang ila pamilya. 17 Si Eliezer may isa lang ka anak nga lalaki nga amo si Rehabia nga pinakapangulo sang ila pamilya. Madamo gid ang mga kaliwat ni Rehabia.

18 Ang isa sa mga anak nga lalaki ni Izhar amo si Shelomit nga pinakapangulo sang ila pamilya.

19 Ang mga anak nga lalaki ni Hebron amo sila ni Jeria, ang pinakapangulo sang ila pamilya, si Amaria ang ikaduha, si Jahaziel ang ikatatlo, kag si Jekameam ang ikaapat.

20 Ang mga anak nga lalaki ni Uziel amo si Micas, ang pinakapangulo sang ila pamilya, kag si Ishia ang ikaduha.

Ang mga Kaliwat ni Merari

21 Ang mga anak nga lalaki ni Merari amo si Mali kag si Mushi. Ang mga anak nga lalaki ni Mali amo si Eleazar kag si Kish. 22 Napatay si Eleazar nga wala gid sang anak nga lalaki kundi mga babayi lang. Ini sila ginpangasawa sang ila mga pakaisa nga mga anak ni Kish.

23 Si Mushi may tatlo ka anak nga lalaki nga sila ni Mali, Eder, kag Jeremot.

24 Amo ini sila ang mga kaliwat ni Levi suno sa mga pangulo sang ila mga pamilya. Nalista ang tagsa nila ka ngalan. Ang kada isa sa ila dapat nagaedad 20 ka tuig paibabaw agod makaalagad sa templo sang Ginoo. 25 Nagsiling si David, “Ginhatagan kita sang Ginoo, ang Dios sang Israel, sang kalinong kag magaestar siya sa Jerusalem hasta san-o. 26 Karon, indi na kinahanglan sang mga Levita nga magdala-dala pa sang Tolda nga Simbahan kag sang mga kagamitan sini.”

27 Suno sa katapusan nga sugo ni David, ang tanan nga Levita nga nagaedad 20 ka tuig paibabaw ginlista para mag-alagad. 28 Ang katungdanan sang mga Levita amo ang pagbulig sa mga pari nga mga kaliwat ni Aaron sa pag-alagad sa templo sang Ginoo. Sila ang magaatipan sang mga lagwerta sang templo kag sang mga kuwarto sa kilid, kag sila man ang magabulig sa mga seremonya sang pagpakatinlo kag sang iban pa nga buluhaton sa templo sang Dios. 29 Sila man ang gintugyanan sa balaan nga tinapay nga ginaplastar sa lamisa, sa harina para sa mga halad nga regalo, sa tinapay nga wala sing inugpahabok, kag sa iban pa nga ginaluto kag ginamiksla. Sila man ang gintugyanan sa pagkilo kag sa pagtakos sang tanan nga halad. 30 Ila man katungdanan ang pagtindog kada aga kag kada gab-i sa templo sa pagpasalamat kag sa pagdayaw sa Ginoo. 31 Sila man ang magabulig sa paghalad sa Ginoo sang mga halad nga ginasunog sa mga Adlaw nga Inugpahuway, sa Piesta sang Pag-umpisa sang Bulan, kag sa iban pa nga mga piesta. May mga pagsulundan kon pila ka Levita ang magahimo sini nga buluhaton kag kon paano nila ini himuon.

32 Gani ginhimo sang mga Levita ang ila katungdanan sa pag-atipan sang Tolda nga Ginapakigkitaan kag sa Balaan nga Lugar, kag sa pagbulig sa ila mga paryente nga mga pari nga kaliwat ni Aaron sa pag-alagad sa templo sang Ginoo.

The Levites

23 When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon(A) king over Israel.(B)

He also gathered together all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites. The Levites thirty years old or more(C) were counted,(D) and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.(E) David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge(F) of the work(G) of the temple of the Lord and six thousand are to be officials and judges.(H) Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments(I) I have provided for that purpose.”(J)

David separated(K) the Levites into divisions corresponding to the sons of Levi:(L) Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

Gershonites

Belonging to the Gershonites:(M)

Ladan and Shimei.

The sons of Ladan:

Jehiel the first, Zetham and Joel—three in all.

The sons of Shimei:

Shelomoth, Haziel and Haran—three in all.

These were the heads of the families of Ladan.

10 And the sons of Shimei:

Jahath, Ziza,[a] Jeush and Beriah.

These were the sons of Shimei—four in all.

11 Jahath was the first and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons; so they were counted as one family with one assignment.

Kohathites

12 The sons of Kohath:(N)

Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel—four in all.

13 The sons of Amram:(O)

Aaron and Moses.

Aaron was set apart,(P) he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the Lord, to minister(Q) before him and to pronounce blessings(R) in his name forever. 14 The sons of Moses the man(S) of God were counted as part of the tribe of Levi.

15 The sons of Moses:

Gershom and Eliezer.(T)

16 The descendants of Gershom:(U)

Shubael was the first.

17 The descendants of Eliezer:

Rehabiah(V) was the first.

Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.

18 The sons of Izhar:

Shelomith(W) was the first.

19 The sons of Hebron:(X)

Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth.

20 The sons of Uzziel:

Micah the first and Ishiah the second.

Merarites

21 The sons of Merari:(Y)

Mahli and Mushi.(Z)

The sons of Mahli:

Eleazar and Kish.

22 Eleazar died without having sons: he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them.(AA)

23 The sons of Mushi:

Mahli, Eder and Jerimoth—three in all.

24 These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families as they were registered under their names and counted individually, that is, the workers twenty years old or more(AB) who served in the temple of the Lord. 25 For David had said, “Since the Lord, the God of Israel, has granted rest(AC) to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever, 26 the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service.”(AD) 27 According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.

28 The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification(AE) of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God. 29 They were in charge of the bread set out on the table,(AF) the special flour for the grain offerings,(AG) the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.(AH) 30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening(AI) 31 and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the Lord on the Sabbaths, at the New Moon(AJ) feasts and at the appointed festivals.(AK) They were to serve before the Lord regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.

32 And so the Levites(AL) carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting,(AM) for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.(AN)
