And the people got themselves by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people that are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
The people stole into the city [of Mahanaim] that day, as people who are humiliated and ashamed steal away when they retreat in battle.
The people slipped into the city stealthily that day as humiliated people steal away when they flee in battle.
And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
So they returned to the city quietly that day like troops come in when they are humiliated after fleeing in battle.
So that day the troops crept back into the city like soldiers creep back ashamed after they’ve fled from battle.
Thus the victory that day was turned into mourning for all the people, for the people heard it said that day that the king was grieving for his son;
The troops were sneaking into Mahanaim, just as if they had run away from a battle and were ashamed.
And the people stole away that day into the city, as people steal away when ashamed of fleeing in battle.
And the people shunned the going into the city that day as a people would do that hath turned their backs, and fled away from the battle.
The people came into the city quietly as if they were the ones who had been defeated in battle.
The soldiers came very quietly back into Mahanaim city. It seemed like they were ashamed because they had run away from the battle.
That day the people were sneaking into the city quietly, the way people who are ashamed of fleeing from the battle would sneak in quietly.
And the people stole into the city that day as people steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
And the people stole into the city that day as people steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
The ·people [men; soldiers] ·came into the city quietly [L stole/crept into the city] that day. They were like an army that had been ·defeated in battle and had run away [L shamed for fleeing in battle].
And the people went that day into the city secretly, as people confounded hide themselves when they flee in battle.
That day the troops sneaked into the city as if they had fled from battle and were ashamed of it.
They went back into the city quietly, like soldiers who are ashamed because they are running away from battle.
So they returned to the city quietly that day like people come in when they are humiliated after fleeing in battle.
The people came into the city quietly. They were like people who had been defeated in battle and had run away.
So men snuck into the city that day like men do who are ashamed after they’ve run away from a battle.
And the people entered by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
So the people stole away to enter into the city that day, as people who are dishonored steal away when they flee in battle.
The army came secretly into the city on that day because the army was disgraced when they fled in the battle,
The entire army crept back into the city as though they were ashamed and had been beaten in battle.
Joab was told that David was weeping and lamenting over Absalom. The day’s victory turned into a day of mourning as word passed through the army, “David is grieving over his son.” The army straggled back to the city that day demoralized, dragging their tails. And the king held his face in his hands and lamented loudly, O my son Absalom, Absalom my dear, dear son!
So the people entered the city by stealth that day, as a people who have been disgraced steal away when they flee from battle.
That day the troops sneaked into the city as if they had fled from battle and were ashamed of it.
and that day’s victory was turned into mourning for the whole army when they heard, “The king is grieving for his son.”
And the people entered the city surreptitiously that day, just as people who are humiliated surreptitiously flee in battle.
So the people went by stealth into the city that day, as people who are humiliated steal away when they flee in battle.
The troops stole furtively into the city that day, much as soldiers steal in who are ashamed when they flee from a battle.
The people came into the city quietly that day. They were like an army that had been defeated in battle and had run away.
That day the people stole away to go to the city the way people who are embarrassed steal away in fleeing from battle.
The men came quietly into the city that day. They were like fighting men who are ashamed because they’ve run away from a battle.
The men stole into the city that day as men steal in who are ashamed when they flee from battle.
The men stole into the city that day as men steal in who are ashamed when they flee from battle.
And the people stole back into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
So the people were quiet as they went in secret into the city that day. They acted like people who are ashamed when they run away from a battle.
They crept back into the town that day as though they were ashamed and had deserted in battle.
The troops stole into the city that day as soldiers steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
The troops stole into the city that day as soldiers steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
The troops stole into the city that day as soldiers steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
The troops stole into the city that day as soldiers steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
And the people stole that day into the Ir [Machanayim] as people being ashamed steal in when they flee in milchamah.
And the people stole into the city that day as people steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
And the people stole into the city that day as people steal in who are ashamed when they flee in battle.
So the victory that day was turned into mourning for all the troops, for the troops heard it said that day, “The king is grieving over his son.”
They crept back to the city as though they had lost the battle rather than saved the kingdom.
The people sneaked into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
And the people eschewed to enter into the city in that day, as the people turned and fleeing from [the] battle is wont to bow away. (And the people entered into the city on that day in shameful quiet, like the people who turned, and fled away from a battle, be wont to go.)
And the people stealeth away, on that day, to go in to the city, as the people steal away, who are ashamed, in their fleeing in battle;
