⁸ For I say that the Messiah became a servant of the circumcised^[a] on behalf of God’s truth,^(A) to confirm the promises to the fathers,^(B)

¹⁴ I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly^[a] call in Christ Jesus.^(A)

¹¹ For the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father.^[a] That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers,^(A)

¹⁷ Therefore, He had to be like His brothers in every way, so that He could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service^[a] to God, to make propitiation^(A) for the sins of the people.^(B)

Our Great High Priest

¹⁴ Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to the confession.^{(A) 15} For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are,^(B) yet without sin.^(C)
