Sight for Those Who Are Blind

²⁹^(A)As they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. ³⁰And two people who were blind, sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, ^(B)have mercy on us, ^(C)Son of David!” ³¹But the crowd sternly warned them to be quiet; yet they cried out all the more, “Lord, ^(D)Son of David, have mercy on us!” ³²And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” ³³They *said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.” ³⁴Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

Bartimaeus Receives Sight

³⁵^(A)Now as ^[a]^(B)Jesus was approaching Jericho, a man who was blind was sitting by the road, begging. ³⁶But when he heard a crowd going by, he began inquiring what this was. ³⁷They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. ³⁸And he called out, saying, “Jesus, ^(C)Son of David, have mercy on me!” ³⁹Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, “^(D)Son of David, have mercy on me!” ⁴⁰And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He asked him, ⁴¹“What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!” ⁴²And Jesus said to him, “Regain your sight; ^(E)your faith has ^[b]made you well.” ⁴³And immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, ^(F)glorifying God; and when ^(G)all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.
