³And ^(A)the tempter came and said to him, “If you are ^(B)the Son of God, command ^(C)these stones to become loaves of bread.” ⁴But he answered, ^(D)“It is written,

^(E)“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
