⁶ but showing ^[a]favor to ^(A)thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

⁶ Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, ^(A)compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in faithfulness and ^[a]truth; ⁷ who ^(B)keeps faithfulness for thousands, who forgives wrongdoing, violation of His Law, and sin; yet He ^(C)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^(D)inflicting the ^[b]punishment of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

⁹ You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, ^(A)inflicting the ^[a]punishment of the fathers on the children, ^[b]even on the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, ¹⁰ but ^(B)showing ^[c]favor to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

⁹ Know therefore that the Lord your God, ^(A)He is God, ^(B)the faithful God, ^(C)who keeps ^[a]His covenant and ^[b]His faithfulness to a thousand generations for those who ^(D)love Him and keep His commandments; ¹⁰ but He ^(E)repays those who hate Him to ^[c]their faces, to eliminate ^[d]them; He will not hesitate toward him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face.
